Artist:
Junious "House" Brickhouse

Description:

Funk, house and hip-hop music come into perspective by introducing students to dance styles such as popping, locking, house dance, and hip-hop freestyle. After seeing an ensemble performance by Urban Artistry, founded by Junious, students learn vocabulary, technique and basic choreography using moves that evolved from the funk and soul era dances, which influenced pop culture and hip hop in the 80s and 90s.  Moves and combinations, dancing in a cipher/circle, and working with a group to create routines and solos will be covered, but no experience is necessary.
