Mission

Class Acts Arts is a nonprofit arts outreach organization dedicated to bringing educational and culturally diverse arts experiences to schools and communities in Maryland, DC and Virginia. Since its creation in 1995, Class Acts Arts has worked with award-winning national touring artists, both locally based and traveling through, connecting artists of great distinction with local audiences. In the 2005-2006 fiscal year Class Acts Arts facilitated over 2,600 performances and workshops in the literary, visual and performing arts - reaching an estimated 453,000 children and teachers, adults, seniors, at-risk youth, and special needs populations.

In addition to facilitating high quality educational and cultural programs Class Acts Arts:

  • Provides career support services to artists;
  • Presents several public performance series, introducing audiences of all ages to an inspiring range of cultural traditions and artistic disciplines;
  • Provides tools and resources for individuals and groups responsible for arts programming in area schools, communities, workplaces, and concert halls;
  • Serves as a resource for staff development workshops, in-service training and motivational keynote speakers.

The mission of Class Acts Arts is to facilitate high quality and culturally diverse performances, workshops and residencies for schools and communities, at-risk youth, seniors and special needs populations throughout Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia. Class Acts Arts promotes the arts in their capacity to serve as an important educational and community-building resource, while providing meaningful employment and career support services to artists.
