Born in Bangladesh, Samia received extensive training in Indian classical music in North India before moving to Maryland. She has performed worldwide. Her interest in the intersection of Muslim and Hindu faiths and cultures drives her approach to music, as it informs her music. Samia enjoys exploring musical "universals" between various musical cultures, and has collaborated on projects with South African and Native American experimental and traditional musicians.
