Educational Theatre Company

Shakespeare lives! With dynamic live performances and workshops, Educational Theatre Company’s (ETC) professional actors share their love of theatre and Shakespeare with students in grades 4-12. Students learn to approach Shakespeare practically, uncovering meaning by exploring the text’s vocal, physical, mental and emotional challenges from the actor’s perspective. ETC tailors each highly interactive and energetic residency to meet individual school objectives. Program offerings include Shakesperience, a NEW performance-only option; a half-day introduction with performance and “Improv Paraphrase!” workshops that bring modern meaning to classical texts; a multi-workshop Shakespeare Symposium; and an 8-week student production residency. For more than a decade, ETC has brought theater professionals into schools to share their skills and experience.

Educational Theatre Company (ETC) is a group of professional theatre artists who seek to unlock the creative and collaborative potential of children by sharing their passion for theatre arts through school and community based programs. Shakespeare in the Schools is devoted to making Shakespeare accessible to students. The classics were originally performed, not read. After seeing, hearing and performing in workshops with these theatre professionals, students gain a better appreciation for the dramatic and performance aspects of Shakespeare’s works. Workshops/residencies are tailored to suit each school.
