NEW Maryland Traditions in the Schools* Artist

Silver Spring Master pianist Daryl Davis presents a rollicking tour of American roots music from Blues & Boogie Woogie to Rock'n'Roll.  Daryl's exciting performances connect cultural and historical dots in the development of some of America's most distinctive, innovative musical sounds and styles.

*A new program from the Maryland State Arts Council'sMaryland Traditions program, in partnership with the National Council for the Tradtional Arts (NCTA) and Class Acts Arts. This program is available for grades 6-12 in Montgomery County schools, both public and private.

Davis has performed with America's greatest icons, including Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley's Jordanaires, Johnnie Johnson, and Pinetop Perkins.  

Students will learn the early Jazz styles of Blues & Boogie Woogie piano.

Students will focus on the process of composing a song.
