Antonio Rocha
The jungles of Brazil and Africa come to life as Antonio Rocha singlehandedly evokes the sights and sounds of the rainforest and its wildly entertaining inhabitants. Uniquely blending movement with precision-paced storytelling and amazing sound effects, Antonio can take audiences anywhere around the world. In Jungle Tales, he becomes a snake, jaguar and turtle right before your eyes while he fosters an appreciation for the rainforest. InCrossroads, Antonio performs tales of adventure, wit and wisdom that address virtues of responsibility, courage and respect. Internationally recognized, his performance highlights include the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian and many worldwide festivals. Antonio won a 2007 Parent's Choice Gold Award for his DVD, Under African Skies.
"The children, K-6, and teachers were totally engaged throughout both performances. Children are practicing the mime techniques and enthralled with the storytelling and acting as well as with Brazil."
YORKTOWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Native Brazilian Antonio Rocha began his career in the performing arts over twenty years ago. In 1988 he received a Partners of the Americas grant to come to the US to perform and deepen his mime and story skills with Master Tony Montanaro. Since then he has earned a Summa Cum Laude BA in theater from University of Southern Maine, studied with mime master Marcel Marceau and toured nationally with the Light Theater. Mr. Rocha’s solo show of mime and tales has been performed from the Far East to the Far West in places such as the Singapore Festival of the Arts, Aruba International Dance Festival, The Smithsonian, The National Geographic, Three Apples Storytelling Festival MA, and many other regional festivals.
Antonio engages students with stories from Brazil, Africa, Asia and the United States.
Using physical theater, storytelling, and sound effects, Antonio Rocha of Brazil brings to life the sights and sounds of the rainforest.
Antonio combines humor and suspense in a showcase of stories and mime.
